Father Morin was asked by Bishop Grandin of St. Albert to come to the area to promote Francophone immigration to the West. Between 1891 and 1899, he assisted over 620 families to come to Western Canada and also helped pioneers in nine communities. He wrote a book and then returned to Quebec, where he became a parish priest.
