Les Oblats étaient des prêtres dédiés au travail missionnaire et à aider les pauvres. Mgr. Vital Grandin, OMI, a servi tout le nord de l’Alberta. Le père Albert Lacombe, OMI, a facilité la traverse du chemin de fer continental à travers l’ouest canadien en 1883. Le bienheureux frère Antoine Kowalczyk, OMI, a servi pour plusieurs années dans l’école résidentielle de garçons au collège St. Jean d’Edmonton (édifice rouge) dans les années 40 et 50. Au centre, il y a le début de St. Albert, Alberta.

Oblates were priests dedicated to missionary work and helping the poor by being part of their everyday lives. Bishop Vital Grandin, OMI, served all of northern Alberta. Father Albert Lacombe, OMI, assisted the Transcontinental Railway to cross Western Canada in 1883. Blessed Brother Antoine Kowalczyk, OMI, served many years at the francophone boys’ residential school at Edmonton’s St. Jean College (red building) in the 40s and 50s. In the center, we see St. Albert, Alberta, at its very beginning.

Le tout a commencé avec 201,88$. Pendant ses premières années, la Co-op vendait des produits pétroliers aux agriculteurs de la région. Quand la Co-op a racheté Legal Mercantile (panneau de gauche) d’Edmond Dozols en 1926, l’entreprise a ajouté la marchandise générale. La murale dépeint plusieurs personnes qui y ont travaillé pour un certain nombre d’années.

It began with $201.88. During its baby years, Co-op sold petroleum products to the area’s farmers. When Co-op bought Legal Mercantile (left panel) from Edmond Dozois in 1926, the business added general merchandise. The mural portrays the many people who worked there for a number of years.
